Hurricane Michael, alarm: 500 fleeing Florida

Hurricane Michael is of increasing concern, which is about to hit the Florida coast supported by winds at 210 km/h and strengthened to level 4 (out of a maximum of 5 possible levels), therefore defined as "extremely dangerous" by the experts of the National Center hurricanes and by local authorities, who have already raised the alarm. Florida Governor Rick Scott urged residents to evacuate coastal areas as soon as possible: “The decisions you and your family make in the next few hours could mean the difference between life and death,” he wrote on Twitter.. Alabama colleague Kay Ivey instead issued a state of emergency in anticipation of massive power outages, damage and debris from high winds. And in Georgia, Governor Nathan Deal declared a preventive state of emergency for 92 counties: "I ask all citizens to join me in praying for the safety of our people, and all those who are in the path of Hurricane Michael" , has explained.

The hurricane will strike Florida on Wednesday, October 10, bringing strong winds and heavy rain to parts of Georgia and southeastern Alabama. On his passage through Central America, Michael has already caused 13 victims between El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua. Michael's eye should touch the mainland around 20 (Italian time) and if category 4 were to be confirmed he would be one of the strongest to have reached the coast in recent years (there have been 27 in 166 years). For example: in 2005 Katrina landed on New Orleans as a category 3 (although a few hours earlier it was still a category 5) and Sandy in 2012 in New Jersey was a category 1.
