More gardeners and less owners. More tattoo artists and fewer construction companies. The world of the craftsman, one of the most significant basins of Made in Italy, is constantly changing its skin and renewing itself. This was stated by a survey by Unioncamere and InfoCamere on the craftsmen's trades practiced in the last five years. In general, the sector, which has over 1,3 million businesses, lost almost 100 thousand between September 2013 and September 2018. But some "trades" are growing, even reaching substantial numbers.
And so the cleaning companies and those that deal with tattoos and piercings increase. Gardeners and paper handling agencies are growing. There is also an increase in companies that make clothing accessories or tailor-made tailors, as well as designers, in fashion and for the industrial sector.
On the other hand, construction companies and those involved in restructuring, the "owners" in charge of road transport, electricians, carpenters and mechanics are reduced.
Going into more detail, cleaning services, used above all for offices and commercial areas, grew by almost 5.700 units, tattoo artists by 4.315. Also on the increase are gardeners (+3.554), practical handling agencies (+1.809) and hairdressers and beauticians (+1.758). Bricklayers and "owners" instead decreased respectively by almost 24 thousand and over 13 thousand units. They also suffer carpentry activities (-20% in all cases). Laundries are reduced by 17%, tilers by 15%, painters by 14%, blacksmiths by 13%. Even the activities that carry out general mechanical works, such as turning or milling, leave 11% of the companies in the field.
