Unioncamere launches the Start up social enterprises project

A new social economy program is at the starting line: it is the "Start up social enterprise", launched by Unionbilmente together with Universitas Mercatorum and 38 Chambers of Commerce (including those of Rome, Milan and Turin). The objective of the initiative is to launch a maximum number of 12 new social enterprises for each of the participating Chambers. Until September 30, over 450 aspiring entrepreneurs intending to operate in the non-profit world can apply to take part in the project.

“The social enterprise – declares Ferruccio Dardanello, President of Unioncamere – can provide a valid contribution to getting out of the crisis, offering good and lasting employment and creating well-being for the community. Both the data from the Business Register and those from the recent census (conducted by Istat with the support of the chamber of commerce) confirm a greater resistance to the crisis on the part of social enterprises. This strengthens our determination to support this important reality”

The services are aimed at groups of aspiring entrepreneurs who intend to start a new business which will have to operate in the "socially useful" intervention sectors, but also activities belonging to other sectors, but which have as their objective the job placement of disadvantaged people. Already established companies and organizations can also participate in the initiative, provided they intend to transform themselves into a social enterprise.
