Unioncamere, Greenitaly: the Italian economy turns green

The green economy is an increasingly widespread reality in Italy, with results that in many fields prove to be better than those of the rest of Europe. This is stated in the sixth edition of the report Greenitaly of Unioncamere and the Symbola Foundation, presented today at the Rome headquarters of Unioncamere by, among others, the president of Symbola Hermes Realacci and the CEO of Enel Francesco Starace.

According to the report, they are 372.000 Italian companies (24,5% of the total) in industry and services that have invested since 2008, or will do so this year, in "green" technologies to reduce their environmental impact, save energy and contain CO2 emissions. A number that testifies to a growing interest in this type of investment, so much so that, this year alone, around 120 companies have made it, 36% more than in 2014.

Greenitaly, then, highlights how there is an authentic difference in level, one "green spread“, between companies that have invested in green and the rest of our production system, both in terms of the percentage of companies that export their products (18,9% against 10,7%) and in terms of innovation (21,9 .9,9% of companies that have invested in green technology have developed new products or services, against XNUMX% of the others).

Numbers that cannot fail to have repercussions on the turnover of companies, which among companies that have invested in green areas grew by 19,6% between 2013 and 2014, against 13,4% of the others, and on employment: 14,9 2015% of the hirings expected for 219.500 concern green jobs, in addition to the 59 jobs reserved for professionals with green skills, which bring the share to 2014% of the job demand. Since the end of 51, 37% of Italian SMEs have had at least one green job, more than in the United Kingdom (32%), France (29%) and Germany (XNUMX%).

Italy, therefore, or at least a growing portion of its production system, focuses on quality and recovery, so as to represent, on the environmental front, aauthentic European excellence. Our country ranks second behind Great Britain for the consumption of raw materials and energy for the same value produced, as well as in the reduction of emissions (in this case behind France). In addition, Italy is the European leader in terms of industrial recycling.

A strong reality, therefore, and widespread throughout the nation, even if with a prevalence in the North and, above all, in Lombardy, where there are 71 thousand companies that have invested in green. Veneto, Lazio, Emilia Romagna and Campania follow in this regional ranking.

According to the president of the Symbola Foundation Ermete Realacci, the green economy can represent “the Italian contribution to Cop 21 of Paris”, in addition to being one of the viaticums, perhaps the most effective, towards the exit from the crisis. However, there are still large margins of growth for this kind of economy, which has yet to be "verticalized", that is, it has yet to become a question, as well as economic, political, legal and social, to grow further.
