The European Commission has approved the creation of a joint venture combining the non-US asset management business of Sam Investment Holdings Limited and Pioneer Global Asset Management, a wholly owned subsidiary of Unicredit. Sam is currently controlled by the equity firms Warburg Pincus and General Atlantic (both USA) and by Santander.
For the European Antitrust the operation does not raise competition problems given the combined market shares in the sector in Poland. The case was being investigated under normal procedure.
