Unicredit, Founders' Club project for innovation

The institute led by Jean Pierre Mustier will target 50 scale-ups (innovative companies with excellent performance in terms of development and equity raising) active in the Digital, Clean Tech and Life Science sectors. In Italy, the scaleup sector is growing strongly, but still lagging behind in terms of funding compared to Europe

The first edition of has kicked off “Founders' Club”, the project promoted by UniCredit to support the highest potential Italian scaleups in their growth path and in the strategic decisions that will see them as protagonists in the immediate future.

The initiative launched by the credit institution provides for a series of appointments throughout 2018 and will initially address 50 scaleups, those recently created companies that have particularly distinguished themselves for the collection of equity investments, dimensional growth for revenues and personnel, use of technologies and openness to internationalisation, operating in the sectors of Digital, the Life Science, of Innovative Made in Italy and Clean Tech.

European data on innovative digital scaleups speak of a phenomenon that is now expanding, with over 4.200 companies operating mostly in Great Britain (where there are 1.550) and which have collected a total of 21,5 billion dollars.

The Italian system is dominated mainly by small scaleups and shows that it has great development potential: 86% of Italian scaleups have raised funding between 1 and 10 million dollars (Source: SEP Monitor Scaleup Italy Mind the Bridge).

Overall, the project will engage the companies involved in 4 technical workshops on financial topics such as, for example, IPOs, M&As, financial valuation methods, as well as other specific opportunities for founders to meet with opinion leaders and industrial and financial investors on international scale.

Founders' Club complements the initiatives undertaken by the institute led by Jean Pierre Mustier for innovative startups. Thanks to Unicredit Start Lab, the acceleration program which reached its fifth edition in 2018, the bank has already supported more than 190 innovative companies and analyzed over 3.400 business plans.
