UniCredit rewards Emiliana Conserve's Made in Italy food

A bank that believes in the sustainability of agri-food and subscribes to minibonds for 8 million euros. UniCredit did it through i Sustainability Linked Minibonds issued by Emiliana Conserve. A Spa in Busseto that insists on exporting Italian tomatoes but focuses on production excellence. The financial operation is guaranteed by Sace, but has the value of the good agricultural performances of our house. Obviously, it also expresses the sense of a direction of travel compatible with the environment and with the eco-plans of Italian agriculture. The more finance celebrates the efforts of Italian companies, the more the credibility of farms grows.

The subscription also includes a mechanism for adjusting the financial margin which contemplates the reduction or increase of the interest rate upon reaching the target set in the sustainability clauses. In six years, the company is committed to reaching the percentages of 100% of both electricity purchased produced from renewable sources and processed tomatoes from the "EMILIANA 5.0" Certified Sustainable Supply Chain.

In the Busseto ex Cirio plant many tomato formats are produced, making the structure the largest private company in northern Italy. The 250 tons of fresh transformed tomatoes a year, the turnover of around 100 million euros of which 50% exports, were the pillars that UniCredit evaluated to support the new challenges. Gian Mario Bosoni he is the CEO of Emiliana Conserve who does not miss the European and global scenario of the coming years, oriented towards respecting the main drivers of sustainability. "Authentic, quality and sustainable Made in Italy represents the core value that guides the operations of our company". From which the new financial operations? “ Yes, we are implementing an important industrial investment plan intended to introduce further innovations in our production cycles, to obtain energy and water resource savings as well as to use new types of eco-sustainable packaging.” On the other hand, the first Sustainability Report was drawn up a year ago.

About UniCredit it is known that the bank is prepared for financing solutions related to ESG objectives. Andrea BurchiManager Centro Nord explains the operation as follows: "It is the confirmation of our Group's commitment to supporting local businesses in a virtuous path of internationalization and directing energies towards an eco-sustainable future." In the heart of the Italian Food Valley, the bank-business duo will now have to demonstrate that they know how to stay within a system of exchange and internationalization of land products. The same European agricultural policy in force since 2023 with an initial budget of 340 billion euros calls for the support of the banking system. On this front, Italy has a long tradition behind it with models studied and imitated by the great bankers. Now it's the turn of eco-finance which in Emilia-Romagna essentially accepts that taxonomy approved by the EU which encourages private investment for a climate-neutral economy.
