To know the name of the new president of Unicredit we will have to wait after Easter. The Foundations met today to discuss it but the meeting, still underway, has a preliminary and interlocutory nature in view of discussions with other leading shareholders.
There are four candidates to succeed the outgoing president Dietr Rampl, de facto disheartened by the Foundations themselves: Gian Maria Gros-Pietro (former president of IRI, ENI and Autostrade), Domenico Siniscalco (former Minister of the Treasury and current deputy -president of Morgan Stanley as well as president of Assogestioni), Angelo Tantazzi (former president of Borsa Italiana) and Giuseppe Vita (former president of Allianz Italia and currently president of Banca Leonardo). Barring last-minute surprises, the name will emerge precisely from that poker of excellent candidates but the shareholders intend to take all the necessary time and, considering that the deadline for presenting the list for the election of the new board of directors only expires on 16 April , it goes without saying that the white smoke will take place after Easter. The election of the new president will take place in the Unicredit assembly, convened for May 16 in Rome.
The persistent uncertainty about the appointment of the president, together with more general causes, which concern the entire European banking sector, penalized the stock on the Stock Exchange, which is among the worst.
