EU, maxi-fine to the truck cartel: 494 million for Iveco

Man, Volvo/Renault, Daimler, Iveco and Daf violated EU competition rules. This was stated by the European Commission, according to which the five producers would have created aillegal agreement duration 14 years on the selling prices of trucks and on the possibility of transferring the costs of compliance with the strictest rules on polluting emissions to the buyers.

The European Commission has used an iron fist against the so-called "truck cartel", against which a maxi-fine was issued by 2,926 billion euros. It is, according to the European Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager of the "highest fine ever for a cartel". For the commissioner, the fine is intended to send "a clear signal to businesses: illegal agreements of this nature are banned in the EU".

For Iveco alone, which is part of the group Cnh Industrial (controlled by Exor), the fine is 494,606 million, due to a 10% discount under the rules on leniency and another 10% under the rules on settlement procedures. Even higher stakes for Volvo/Renault, which will have to pay 670,488 million, Daimler (1,008 billion) and Daf 752,679 million, while the Man group has not received any fines, because it was the one that revealed the existence of the agreement to the commission .
