Lombardy, Lazio, Tuscany and Veneto. According to the Destination Management Insighters study, these are the four most popular Italian regions with international tourists. The first three are also those whose popularity has evolved the most from 1997 to today: that of the Veneto was stable, as were those of Emilia-Romagna, Basilicata and Molise, while the popularity worsened for Liguria, Friuli Venezia Giulia and for a series of central-southern regions such as Marche, Umbria, Abruzzo, Puglia and Calabria.

Trentino Alto Adige is even judged to be in a crisis of popularity, while the quotations are growing (but starting from an average evaluation) of Piedmont, Sicily and Campania. Here is the graph.
