Terror into Tunisia, where a group of tourists was taken hostage inside the Bardo museum in Tunis by a commando made up of three heavily armed terrorists disguised as soldiers. The attack was claimed by ISIS who wrote on Twitter: "Good news is coming for the Muslims of Tunisia and a shock for the unbelievers and hypocrites, especially for those who believe they are educated".
The official balance provided by Prime Minister Habib Essid is heavy: in addition to the two assailants, they lost their lives 20 tourists including Italian, German, Polish and Spanish. According to Hoda Abdel-Hamid, senior correspondent in English for the pan-Arab TV Al Jazeera, "two Italians are among the victims of the attack on the Bardo museum in Tunis". The Farnesina then confirmed in the evening that three compatriots died and six Italians were injured in the attack. Between excursionists visiting the Bardo museum were also guests of the MSC Splendida, currently in port. This was announced by the company, which explains that at the time of the terrorist action "the passengers of MSC Splendida were on various excursions: all the coaches on the tour were immediately recalled to the port and all other shore excursions and activities were immediately suspended ”.
The Jewish community of Rome also communicated that a couple of Roman Jews escaped the attack. The testimonies of the ambush tell of gunshots heard near the Parliament, which is not far from the museum. Security agents prevented journalists and deputies from leaving the courtroom, while the evacuation operations of the kidnapped group of tourists immediately began: the hostages were freed by a special forces blitz, during which the two attackers and also a policeman were killed.
