Transportation, the new Authority will not have its headquarters in Turin

Yesterday the Senate said no to the amendment to the Labor Decree which had indicated Turin as the seat city of the future Transport Authority. The amendment, which had been approved by the Labor and Finance committees, was considered "impossible". So now the discussion moves to next Monday when the Decree of Fare and the contextual amendment that will re-propose the question will arrive in the Chamber.

The initiative originated from the Piedmontese senators and foresees that "the headquarters of the Authority will be identified in a state-owned property in the city of Turin, by decree of the President of the Council of Ministers, on the proposal of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, within the deadline of 31 December 2013". It could be the former headquarters of Anas, in via Talucchi, as emerged in recent days. In any case, it will be a publicly owned venue.

For the mayor of Turin, Piero Fassino, "nothing is prejudiced, the amendment will be resubmitted with a certainly more suitable instrument". The comment of the president of the Piedmont Region Roberto Cota is harsher, speaking of a very serious fact: “Roma doesn't even have the courage to face the game head on and uses tricks, such as the application of the regulation. However, it won't end there."

This morning the vote was held in the Public Works Commission to appoint the commissioners of the Transport Authority. With an average of 21 in favor and 3 against, Andrea Camanzi was nominated as president of the transport regulation authority, Barbara Marinali and Mario Valducci as members of the Authority.
