The best Italian beers chosen by Slow Food, the novelty of the year comes from Treviglio. All the prizes

They are over five hundred producers of craft beer and cider who represent the excellence of the Italian brewing world. This was decreed by the judges of the Slow Food Italian Beer Guide which arrives punctually every year "photographing" the world of the best Italian beers.

The Slow Food Guide tells stories of beers, producers who make the craft beer sector alive, continuously growing, respecting the link between territory and quality. 511 realities - among beer and cider producers - being talked about reviewing 2767 labels and reporting 785 places where it is possible to drink or buy Italian craft beer.

«The Guide to Beers – highlights Luca Giaccone, editor of the publication together with Eugenio Signoroni – was born in 2008, when there were 232 breweries in Italy. Today there are more than a thousand». One hundred male and female collaborators participated in the drafting of the Slow Food Guide, beer experts, but above all passionate connoisseurs of their own territory, who visited breweries throughout Italy and tasted their beers and then selected those that are worth talking about. A real guide within the guide is the selection of almost 800 addresses where to buy, drink and pair beers with food, while with the novelty of recognition for gourmet establishments, the guide highlights those who pay particular attention to the gastronomic offer. Nine special prizes awarded this year by the Guide, the debut of the Filiera prize, awarded to those breweries that invest with conviction in the self-production of raw materials.

«Building a bond with the territory – underlines Eugenio Signoroni, co-author of the Guide – has been, since the beginning of the craft beer movement, one of the fundamental objectives of its protagonists. If at the beginning it was mainly very characteristic ingredients that were used but, so to speak, eccentric compared to the basic beer recipe, such as fruit, spices, flowers and unmalted cereals, in recent years the effort of an ever-increasing group of producers was to invest resources in the production, processing and use of barley and hops, grown in Italy or on its own. For this reason, with the 2025 edition of the Guide it seemed necessary to focus our observation on this theme, introducing the new Supply Chain award and describing this interesting new trend in even more depth, which can also have significant repercussions on the agricultural sector of our country" .

49 Snails awarded to the best breweries, 101 excellence awards, 43 Supply Chain Awards

In total the Guide awarded 49 Snails to the best breweries in Italy, 101 awards of excellence to breweries that express a high average quality across all production and 43 Supply Chain awards to companies that pay particular attention to the direct production of raw materials. As far as ciders are concerned, there are 3 Chiocciole, 4 Eccellenze and 5 Filiera awards.

The Special Awards

Il Best New Award it was awarded to the Nama brewery in Treviglio (BG) with the following motivation: In just two years, Mattia Bonardi and Stefano Angeretti's brewery has established itself as one of the most interesting on the Lombard brewing scene with a clear and easily recognizable style.

Il Costanza Award was assigned to the brewery of Forte di Pietrasanta (Lu) with the following motivation: Francesco Mancini's brewery has built its fame precisely on the ability to be creative and constant at the same time. Beers chiseled production after production, in search of a precision that makes them a safe haven of pure pleasure".

Il Italian Supply Chain Award was assigned to the Serrocroce brewery in Monteverde (Av) with the following motivation: Vito Pagnotta is first and foremost a farmer. His brewing project is both ancient and contemporary. Making beer is a consequence and a need, a cultural and cultural fact, a way of truly describing one's territory and enhancing it.

Il Best cellar project award the Siemàn brewery in Villaga (Vi) was assigned "a unique project on the national scene, part cellar and part brewery, with beers that look at the world of agriculture, barrels and wine with naturalness and spontaneity, without no forcing or search for amazement".

Il Best culinary offer award went to the Vecchia Osteria in Marotta (Pu), as the following reason: Vecchia Osteria is a place to go to eat well as well as drink well. And the two experiences are in continuous dialogue, thanks to an innate ability on the part of Simone Massi and all his staff to always suggest the best possible combination and to open up to new, unprecedented experiences.

Il Best Publican Award was delivered to the Bluebeat in Lecce with the following motivation: For over ten years only beer without cuisine, a unique place capable of creating aggregation, of creating culture. A point of reference where crazy festivals are organised, where the brewers are first and foremost friends and where continuous rotation is practiced. The only pub in Puglia capable of being just a pub in the purest sense of the term: beer and conviviality.

Il Best selection of bottled beers award went to the Brasserie Arnage in Cesena, delivered by the President of Slow Food Editore, with the following motivation: A place that, in addition to having an extraordinary selection of bottles, was able to use it to raise funds to support colleagues in difficulty after the hard days of 'flood.

Il Best selection of draft beers award was awarded to Archea Brewery of Florence and was delivered by the President of Slow Food Lombardia, Claudio Rambelli, with the following motivation: A broad selection that looks with the same attention to the past, present and future. A pub in which attention to service is absolute and which manages to make Italy and the world known from a counter.

Il Best Cider Project was assigned to Floribunda di Salorno (Bz) and was delivered by Marco Manfrini, curator of the section dedicated to ciders in the guide, with the following motivation: The Egger family has been pioneers of apple fermentation since the 1980s, dedicating , with respect but also with a rare capacity for experimentation, to a drink as ancient as it is contemporary such as cider. A beautiful story of respect for the land and an eye towards the future.
