The earth shakes again. They climbed to three earthquake shocks which between Wednesday evening and Thursday night hit Central Italy again. The strongest were the first two: at 19 there was an earthquake with a magnitude of 10, while at 5.4 the shock was more intense and lasting, with a magnitude of 21. The episode of 18 pm instead reached 5.9, according to the findings of the National Institute of Geophysics. The epicenter was located in the same area as the afternoon and evening tremors, i.e. in Valnerina, between Perugia and Macerata.

"It is difficult to speak of an aggravation - said the head of the Civil Protection of the Marches, Cesare Spuri - it is a second earthquake: the area that had already been partially tested is now in a situation of extreme gravity”. In short, if the earthquake of August 24 had devastated the Ascolano area in the Marche region, now the part of the Macerata area that the previous earthquake had seriously damaged but partly spared has been destroyed. The only difference is that for the moment there are no casualties reported.

But "there are hundreds of people to be displaced”, says Spuri. In Camerino alone, 700 have found hospitality in two centers set up for emergencies. There are no people who died or were seriously injured, but dozens showed up in hospitals for various injuries, illness or panic attacks. The most difficult situations, while the inspections are still underway, are in Visso, Ussita, Castelsantangelo sul Nera, Muccia, Pieve Torina, San Ginesio, Camerino, Caldarola, practically all the municipalities of the epicentral area, where, Spuri points out , there have been new collapses of buildings that were usable before yesterday's powerful tremors.

"The center of Visso - says the head of civil protection - can no longer welcome anyone". Collapses are being reported everywhere: in Caldarola the portal of a church collapsed, but also in Amandola, in the Fermo area, the tympanum of the church of the Convent of the Benedictine nuns collapsed. The landslide that isolates the hamlet of Peracchia, in Acquasanta Terme, also causes concern. The firefighters are trying to reach the people left isolated, including the deputy mayor of Acquasanta Gigi Capriotti. As for the Salaria, it will be reopened today.

Meanwhile, a 73-year-old man died of a heart attack Tolentino, presumably due to the shock caused by the earthquake. You are the first 'indirect' victim of the earthquake. For the moment, according to the provincial commander of the Macerata carabinieri, Stefano Di Iulio, there are no victims caused by collapses.

“Many houses have collapsed. Our country is finished – said the mayor of Hussite, Giuliano Rinaldi, on Skytg24 -, the facade of the church has also collapsed and the ground has split. We cannot reach the hamlet of Casali. Thank God we were able to rescue the two elderly women who had been trapped in their home, whose facade collapsed with the earthquake. They were taken away by ambulance, but they should be in fair condition."

“My technicians tell me that the historic center is in such a condition that it could all be unusable – said the mayor of visso, Giuliano Pazzaglini – We had no victims and only three minor injuries but the damage to the buildings was very heavy. Many have lost part of the facade. A church in Borgo Sant'Antonio collapsed and there was significant damage in the hamlet of Borgo San Giovanni”.

A Dressing room after the shock of 21:18 the bell tower of the church of Santa Maria in Via, already damaged by the earthquake of 24 August, collapsed on a building. The work of the firefighters is concentrated there, even if it is not thought that people were inside. This was announced by the press office of the Municipality. However, many people were out after the previous quake at 19pm. Many collapses in the center and in the hamlets.

A Fabriano, due to the collapse of some partitions in a building in via Fratelli Latini "there are 8 injured, as far as I know, lightly bruised". The mayor of Fabriano Giancarlo Sagramola told Ansa, who also speaks of "some uninhabitable houses" and is organizing the reception points after the two tremors of magnitude 5.4 and 5.9 today. "We will open the PalaGuerrieri, the PalaFermi and the PalaCesari, in order to welcome people who are afraid to sleep in their homes". Checks are underway in all fractions and schools will remain closed today.
