Terna launches its App with all the data on the electricity system

Terna launches its first App. All the data on the operation of the national electricity system will be made available to users through an application presented on 16 December by the group's managing director, Luigi Ferraris, and already downloadable on the Apple and Google stores.

The new App is aimed not only at insiders, but at a wider audience looking for information on the Italian system, production and electricity consumption. Inside it will in fact be inserted about 1 million updated data that can be consulted in real time: from national needs to figures on electricity generation and transmission, through progress on renewable sources and trade flows with foreign countries, everything will be within reach of a smartphone. A section will then be dedicated to Terna's news and press releases.

The goal of this new tool is to respond to the need for transparency and provide “an ever greater disclosure of data, skills and knowledge on the electricity system”, writes the company that manages the national electricity system in a note. Not only. “The latest techniques of data visualization used make Terna's App the most advanced digital tool among Tsos (transmission system operators, ed.) Europeans who have already developed similar contents”. Compared to the Rte (France) and National Grid (UK) APPs, in fact, Terna's allows you to view and consult a greater number of data and in greater detail, and a greater quantity of interactive graphs.

The initiative follows a series of data sharing projects carried out by Terna in recent years. These include the plan for the evolution of the electricity market from 2000 onwards and the new digital platform "Transparency Report".
