"Also the third quarter will be of great satisfaction to our shareholders”. This was stated by the managing director of Telecom Italia, Flavio Cattaneo, during his first press conference to present the new services and new offers of the telecommunications company. The manager's words pushed Telecom's stock on the Stock Exchange, which after a weak morning gained 0,5%, to 0,818 euros.
“We are now two-thirds of the third quarter – continued the manager -. And continues the profitability improvement of the group not only for efficiency, but today also thanks to commercial offers. The attention to efficiency continues and we see the results”. In particular, “we expect to share out the revenues and already in this third quarter we will see an improvement in revenues from mobile telephony”.
Regarding theEntry into the TV content industry, Cattaneo explained that Telecom aims more at distributing content, signing agreements with several groups according to an open and not closed model: “We are interested in everything that uses fiber and mobile telephony. These will be our mantras. I do not exclude a priori participation, but they will have to convince us of the convenience of the return on investment. I will never make investments that do not give a reasonable probability of return. We can't waste money."
As for the business plan, “we will present it to the board of directors by the end of the year. We will present it to the market at the beginning of 2017. We will focus on a total quality approach which up to now has been described essentially on cuts. But the goals are not achieved only with cuts”.
Finally, with reference to the Wind-3Italia merger, “today telecommunications operators in Italy from 4 become 3. Then we'll see if the fourth will arrive. It is simply a better market today and in any case we are not standing still ”, concluded Cattaneo, specifying regarding the future entry of Iliad that “it is a Low cost company while we focus on total Quality. We also know the offers in France and we know the Italian market”.
