The Energy Authority cuts electricity bills to medium and large businesses (those with power of at least 16,5 kW) eliminating the general system costs for the first quarter of this year. This was announced by Arera itself in a note, explaining that the goal is to reduce the impact "of the extraordinary rises in the prices of wholesale energy products". The provision of the Authority implements a measure launched by the Government with support decree-ter of last January 21th.

The zeroing of general system charges in the period January-March 2022 was already been approved at the end of December for low voltage domestic customers and small businesses (those under 16,5 kW of power), implementing the provisions of maneuver 2022.

The details of cutting bills for medium-large companies

The Arera then explains the details of the new measure:

"If, on the date of entry into force of the provision for zeroing charges for companies with more than 16,5 kW of power, invoices relating to the supply of electricity referring to the period 1 January - 31 March 2022 had already been issued, the due adjustments must be made within the second subsequent bill".

Not only:

"If the commercial offer signed by the customer does not provide for the direct application of the general charges components (ASOS and ARIM), each seller must guarantee the customer a reduction of the expense equal to the difference between the values ​​of the tax rates without and with zeroing ”.

Finally, the sogni-ter decree provides that the financial coverage necessary for the cancellation of the charges (1,2 billion euros) is obtained using part of the proceeds from the auctions of CO2 emission allowances.
