At the Settecolli trophy the Olympic champion dominates in his 1.500m freestyle: "I was hoping to swim a little faster than 14:49.06, which however is three seconds better than last year's Settecolli" – Federica Pellegrini also did well after having won the 200m freestyle comeback she also placed in the 100m.

“It was a long day, breathless, but one that gave me good emotions. I'm really tired. I was hoping to swim a little faster than the 14:49.06 obtained, which however is three seconds better than last year's Settecolli. In short, they are in line with the programmes”, explained the Olympic champion Gregorio Paltrinieri after his victory over the 1500m freestyle at the Settecolli in Rome. "This was my last pre-World Cup race, I prefer not to load too much by doing the 800m on Sunday. See you in Budapest, where I'd be disappointed if I didn't manage to set the world record".

Federica Pellegrini refined her preparation by going into the pool for the 100m freestyle, a race dominated (53.07) by the Dutchman Ranomi Kromowidjojo. The Venetian champion, who had won the 200m with a great comeback on Friday, limited herself to following her best and closed her participation in the 2017 Settecolli with a time of 54.48.
