Unemployment rate at historic highs in Spain: almost one in four adults has no job, with peaks among the under 25s and in some regions such as Andalusia – In March there were almost 40 more unemployed.

Record of unemployed in Spain in the month of March: the Iberian Ministry of Labor announced today that the jobless are over 4,75 million people, or almost 23% of the population. To be exact, there are currently 4.750.867 job seekers: it is the eighth consecutive month in which the unemployment rate is growing, reaching an all-time high since 2008, the first year of the crisis.

In March there were 38.769 more unemployed, up 0,82% compared to February. On an annual basis, Spain has 417.198 more job applications, up 9,63% on the previous 12 months.

The drama of youth unemployment also continues, exceeding 40% and still growing by 1,4% in March, with almost 8 more unemployed under 25s. The most affected region is Andalusia, where the non-employment rate reaches 31%.
