Spain, de Guindos: "2013 GDP down between 1% and 1,5%"

The Spanish economy will continue to decline in 2013. This was stated by Economy Minister Luis de Guindos who, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, reveals the government's estimates of GDP for the current year, forecast down between 1% and 1,5%. To return to a "slight growth" we will have to wait until 2014.

De Guindos also spoke of the ongoing negotiations with Brussels: Madrid is in fact asking for more time to bring the deficit back below the 3% threshold, thus aiming decisively at growth, reducing the austerity measures.
