Sustainability, Terna is confirmed as a world leader

Terna is increasingly a champion of sustainability: the company led by Luigi Ferraris, after being recognized for the second consecutive year as Industry Leader in the Electric Utilities sector of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, was also confirmed in the Gold Class of global sustainability. This is what emerges from “The Sustainability Yearbook 2020”, a reference publication edited by RobecoSAM, the international rating agency that evaluated the sustainability performance of over 4.700 of the world's largest companies for the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.

Terna, which in eleven years of continuous permanence in the Dow Jones enters the Gold Class for the sixth time, achieved an overall score of 90/100, leader among Electric Utilities, a sector that recorded an average score of 45/100. “This is an important acknowledgment for Terna's ability to operate every day in all its activities, combining the creation of value and sustainability”, commented the CEO and General Manager Luigi Ferraris.

RobecoSAM's annual evaluation is based on strict criteria of economic, environmental and social performance and on a review of the main controversies. The areas analyzed include: risk management, corporate governance, environmental impacts, community relations, human resource management, stakeholder engagement, respect for human rights and supply chain control.

In addition to the DJSI, Terna is included in the international sustainability indices Bloomberg GEI, Euronext (World, Europe and Eurozone), FTSE4Good (Global and Europe), STOXX® ESG (Global, Environmental, Social and Governance), STOXX® Low Carbon, ECPI, ESI (Ethibel Sustainability Index, MSCI, United Nations Global Compact (“GC100”) and in the Italian FTSE ECPI Italia SRI Benchmark and Italia SRI Leaders indices, drawn up starting only from companies listed on the Italian Stock Exchange.
