It's called Pizza Napoletana but they make the best in the world in Caserta. The ranking of the best pizzerias in Italy and in the world of 50 Top pizza 2019 the online competition created by Barbara Guerra, Albert Sapere and Luciano Pignataro has awarded two ex aequo winners Franco Pepe of the pizzeria during a ceremony at the Mercadante theater in Naples Peppercorns of Caiazzo and Francesco Martucci of I Masanielli of Caserta. The former is nothing new, it has already won the first and second edition of the award and therefore remains irremovable from the top of Italian pizza makers.

Third place went to Ciro Salvo of 50 Kalò in Piazza Sannazzaro in Naples who also won the gold medal for the best pizzeria in Europe with his very popular London restaurant. Following are the great certainties of the Neapolitan pizzeria: Gino Sorbillo at the Courts; the Venetian Simone Padoan of I Tigli; the brothers Francesco and Salvatore Salvo with the restaurant in Chiaia in Naples which has been added to the historic parent company in San Giorgio a Cremano; The News 94 by Enzo Coccia; Seu Pizza Illuminati, a pizzeria established in the Gianicolene district of Rome, Casa Vitiello, also in Caserta and La Gatta Mangiona, the second and historic Roman restaurant to enter the top ten. 

To be represented in the standings are well 14 regions from North to South of the boot, for an overall picture that underlines the average qualitative growth in the entire country. Natural domination of Campania in the top 50, with 18 establishments present. In addition to Naples, the motherland of pizza, the province of Caserta confirms itself as the eldorado of the pasta disc most loved by Italians. The performance of Lazio (with 7 pizzerias) and Lombardy (6) was flattering, with Rome and Milan leading the way. Followed by Veneto (4), by now another full-blown school, Emilia Romagna (3), Piedmont, Tuscany and Sicily (all at 2). Finally, with a local Liguria, Marche, Abruzzo, Basilicata, Puglia and Sardinia.

Fair geographical distribution also for the coveted special prizes. The Olitalia Pizza Maker of the Year 2019 Award went to Pier Daniele Seu of Seu Pizza Illuminati (Rome), which, with pizza Cruciferae, cream of mustard and hazelnuts, also wins the Vegan Pizza of the Year Award. The S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna Young Pizza Maker of the Year 2019 Award goes to Lorenzo Sirabella of Dry Milano, While the Pizzeria Da Lionello, from Succivo (CE), wins the Solania Pizzeria Novelty Award of the Year 2019. The D'amico Pizza Award of the Year 2019 is for the Cossack di Francesco & Salvatore Salvo (Naples).

The results of 50 top pizzas touch the main and oldest product of Neapolitan gastronomy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and therefore also arouse passionate comments from real football fans because pizza is in the heart of the Neapolitans and everyone sees and judges it with the eyes of the Heart.
