The classroom of Senate rejected the motion of no confidence individual presented by the Movimento 5 stelle and by Sel against Interior Minister Angelino Alfano. There were 55 votes in favor of no confidence, 226 against, 13 abstentions.
The motion was presented following the expulsion from Italy of Alma Shalabayeva and her daughter Alua, respectively wife and daughter of the Kazakh dissident Mukhtar Ablyazov.
This morning Prime Minister Enrico Letta, speaking in the Senate, had reiterated "the interior minister's non-involvement", asking Parliament for a new demonstration of trust in the government.
Yesterday the Head of State, Giorgio Napolitano, had spoken of "irreparable consequences" for the country in the event of the fall of the Executive.
