Samsung says goodbye to the Galaxy Note 7

The suspension was not enough: the Korean giant definitively interrupts the production of the device: too many (and unsolvable) safety problems

Samsung says goodbye to the Galaxy Note 7

This Galaxy Note 7 there's nothing to do. After an initial suspension, Samsung has decided to definitively interrupt the production of the smartphone that has caused so many problems to users and to the group itself (only yesterday the stock lost 8% on the Stock Exchange).

The decision – explains the Korean company in a note – is the daughter of security risks created by the device, which has the bad habit of overheating too much and, in some cases, even exploding.

“We have recently changed the production volume to allow for an exhaustive investigation and total quality control – writes Samsung -, but since consumer safety is our number one concern we have made the final decision to discontinue the Galaxy Notes 7”.

And to say that it was a flagship model just launched. The offending smartphone was presented only last August and was initially welcomed with great enthusiasm. But then an increasing number of users started reporting that smartphone batteries overheated, causing small explosions or even fires.

Samsung, at that point, recalled all the models on the market, replacing them with a new model which, however, was not 100 percent safe. In recent days, even the Galaxy Note 7 replaced have started to burn and produce smoke. On one occasion, the explosion of a device even led to theevacuation of an aircraft.

After suspending production, Samsung has ensured that anyone who bought a Galaxy Note 7 before the recall campaign will be able to ask for a replacement or full refund. In Italy, given that the Note 7 arrived on the market on the same day that the suspension of the sale was decided, the problem should be fairly limited. And it won't even be able to come back, since the Galaxy Note 7 is now a thing of the past.
