Rovigo: Sit invests 25 million in sustainable technologies and machinery

SIT, a company active in measuring consumption and designing, manufacturing and marketing components for gas appliances for domestic use, today presented the investment plan for the Rovigo production sites at the Rovigo headquarters of Confindustria.

The plan envisages making Rovigo the Group's production center of excellence, strengthening the technological equipment, building a new Workshop (production competence centre) with greater production capacity and equipping the industrial infrastructure with an integrated logistics centre.

For the construction of this industrial hub - in consideration of the strong market demand, the good performance of the plants and the capital derived from the listing - SIT will invest 25 million euros in the two-year period 2018-2019.

As the company explains in a note, "thanks to the acquisition of sustainable technologies and machinery it will be possible to increase production by about 25% compared to current levels".

The employment implications will also be important with a hundred new employees who will be added to the over 500 units currently employed.

“We are in the third stage of development of the Rovigo plants that SIT and the two generations of the de' Stefani family have carried out consistently over the years. After taking over the plants in 1981 and developing a new factory in 2004, we are now laying the foundations for another 10 years of stability,” said Federico de' Stefani, executive chairman of SIT.

“The investments in Rovigo represent recognition of the contribution that these factories have been able to give to the growth of the Group, with the ability to also serve global markets for the die-cast component”, added de' Stefani.

“It is certainly a source of satisfaction to see such an important reality grow further due to the role it plays in the sector at an international level. A confirmation that Polesine is increasingly proving to be a development area for major players and thanks to its professional skills and infrastructural potential it is positioned significantly among the areas with a manufacturing vocation, commented Gian Michele Gambato, vice president of Confindustria Venezia Rovigo.

"SIT - continues the note - in addition to creating new jobs, will also strengthen the opportunities for professional growth of current and incoming employees thanks to collaborations that will be established with the technical institutes of the Rovigo area".
