Rome, off to the Christmas lights with Acea

Rome, off to the Christmas lights with Acea

The Mayor of Rome Virginia Raggi and the President of ACEA Michaela Castelli inaugurated the Christmas lights created by the Lazio utility in via del Corso, which will then be followed by those in the other 14 Municipalities of the city. The traditional switching on of the lights is part of the initiatives promoted by Roma Capitale on the occasion of the festivities. This year's project, which represents an evolution of the format of the last edition Rome by light ACEA, is characterized by a concept that reinterprets Christmas lights in an artistic key.

The illuminations of Via del Corso represent, in fact, a starry sky about 1.500 meters long on which appear luminous writings with phrases, verses and famous quotations that tell Rome through the voice of its poets and its people. From Orazio to Goffredo Mameli, from Ennio Morricone to Federico Fellini, passing through the representatives of the most authentic Roman world such as Gabriella Ferri, Lando Fiorini, Antonello Venditti, Nino Manfredi, Alberto Sordi and Gigi Proietti. The recently deceased actor will be remembered with the phrase: "What, Rome is the synthesis of everything".

Everything is made with the most modern lighting technologies with low environmental impact. To sign the project the Medaarch Studio of Cava de' Tirreni, winner of the international competition "Make Christmas Lights Acea" 2019, launched by Acea with Maker Faire Rome-The European Edition. Again in collaboration with Maker Faire, in fact, the photographic contest "RomebyLight" was organized to invite the public to tell the story of the illuminations. The contest, running from 8 December to 6 January, will end with the selection of the most beautiful photos, to be sent via an app downloadable on iOS and Android, and the awarding of the relative prizes.
