Rome, break between Raggi and the Vatican

The days of the visit of the new mayor of Rome, Virginia Raggi, to Pope Francis and the initial opening of credit by the Church to the new Grillina administration are long gone. Now between Raggi and the Vatican there is a storm and for the mayor a new and very dangerous front of controversy opens up after the chaos in her council and the frictions with Beppe Grillo and the 5 Star Movement. In recent days, warnings and criticisms have arrived from the Vatican Secretary of State, Parolin and the secretary of the CEI, Galantino, and yesterday the Osservatore Romano published a very harsh comment with the unequivocal title "The Capital is in a state of abandonment". The straw that seems to have overflowed the vase of the Vatican's malaise is the unfortunate municipal management of the Sunday of the sanctification of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, where public services have proved to be particularly deficient. In response, yesterday the mayor forfeited the Festival dell'Azione Cattolica citing "personal reasons" but thus throwing fuel on the fire on the state of relations between Rome and the Church.
