On the occasion of the May Day, Labor Day, the Municipality of Roma he dedicated a way a Bruno Trentin, great trade unionist of the twentieth century and unforgettable general secretary of the Fiom since 1962 and during the warm autumn and then of the CGIL from 1988 to 1994, as well as deputy and MEP.

Born in France on 9 December 1926, where his father Silvio had gone into exile as an anti-fascist, Trentin participated in the struggle for Liberation in Italy in the formations of Justice and Freedom and was the manager of the glorious Action party until its dissolution in 1947. Called by Vittorio Foa to the CGIL Studies Office, in 1950 he joined the PCI but was always a liberal communist to the point that the French President Francois Mitterrand, meeting him in the 80s, wondered if Trentin was a communist or a socialist.

From 1962 at the helm of Fiom, the metalworkers of the CGIL, led the hot autumn and founded the FLM with Pierre Carnites and George Welcome launching a profound re-foundation of the union based on factory councils. A refined intellectual, in 1988 he became secretary of the CGIL which he directed until 1994. He was then elected to the European Parliament. He died on August 23, 2007.

The ceremony that named a street after Trentin in Rome, in the Cecchignola district, was opened by the mayor of the capital, Roberto Gualtieri, who explained the reasons for dedicating a street to a great trade unionist, politician and democrat who honored the city ​​and country.
