Renewables and energy efficiency, new proposals from a conference in Rome

The conference entitled “Renewables and energy efficiency. Proposals for a relaunch in the new global context”, in the Sala Guido Carli of UniCredit. It was an opportunity to present the Oir 2011 report (International Observatory on the Industry and Finance of Renewables).
The meeting, which was attended, among others, by Paolo Fiorentino and Massimo Pecorari from UniCredit, Gaetano Benedetto from WWF and Andrea Gilardoni, professor at Bocconi, also representing the research company Agici, presented the new planning model of Italian energy policy consisting of the Energy Sustainability Program (PSE), based on the efficiency of both production and consumption to replace the traditional National Energy Plan which instead is based only on energy production.
The renewable energy market continues its sustained growth: investments have gone from US$ 186 billion in 2009 to US$ 241 billion in 2010. And the development of renewables will bring benefits of €50 billion to the Italian system by 2020.
The conference also illustrated the new sustainable finance model proposed by WWF and UniCredit with Officinae Verdi Spa, the new company for the development of renewable energies, energy efficiency and carbon management. It is the first company in Europe to unite an environmental association, the WWF, with a financial partner, UniCredit, and a technological one, Solon, European leader in photovoltaic technologies.
