Richard Ginori: two-way race between Sambonet and Lenox-Apulum, improved changes by Friday

The ending is yet to be written Richard Ginori affair, the Florentine porcelain house closed since July, with all 320 employees on layoffsand put into liquidation.

The offers on the bank of Marco Milanesio, who leads the board of liquidators, are two, that of the American Lenox, in consortium with the Romanian porcelain producers Apulum, and that of the Piedmontese Sambonet. The envelopes were opened yesterday, but there is time until Friday to make improvements to the offers.

At the moment, the Lenox-Apulum proposal looks better than the Sambonet one. The American-Romanian consortium offers 13 million euros and the reinstatement of 280 employees, against 5,1 million and the reinstatement of 150 employees of Sambonet. To the advantage of the Piedmontese company, however, the industrial plan and the solid reputation in the field of company rescues of the group of the Coppo brothers, which also guarantee greater roots in the territory and the maintenance of the founding characteristics of the brand.

The two offers will then have to be carefully checked by the liquidators' board, "in collaboration with the Tuscany Region, the ministry, the court and the trade unions". Unions that have already split, with the Cobas who have expressed themselves in favor of Lenox-Apulum, while the CGIL is betting on the Italian horse. The games aren't done yet, but the two-man race is winding down, also because, as Milanesio warns, "The company absolutely needs to resume production as soon as possible".
