RFI (Italian Railway Network), company of Group FS which manages the Italian railway infrastructure, has published in the Official Journal of the European Union la race for the executive planning and the realization of the works of the Verona junction – West entrance which will be part of the new high-speed/high-capacity Brescia-Verona-Padua line.

The total value of the tender is approx 253 million euro.

Functional works for high speed: here are the interventions of the project

The interventions constitute a first phase of the overall reorganization project of the Verona railway junction and are part of the completion ofMilan-Venice railway axis, one of the building blocks of TEN-T Mediterranean Core Corridor.

These will be functional works at the entrance to the Brescia-Verona line in the Verona Porta Nuova station, which will lead to the construction of 3,6 kilometers of new line as well as a new route of about 3,3 kilometres dedicated to freight trains and connected to the future Verona freight interconnection.

In project are also expected interventions upgrading of the Verona Porta Nuova station with modification and expansion of the existing tracks, sidewalks and underpasses.

The work will allow reduce interference between different traffic flows, making more fluid circulation and increasing the infrastructure capacity in the railway junctions of Brescia and Verona.

For the completion of the work he was appointed as Extraordinary Government Commissioner Vincenzo Macello, deputy general manager of RFI.
