These are the main issues that Prime Minister Matteo Renzi will discuss today at the summit on nuclear security underway in Washington. The Prime Minister, who is closing his mission to the United States today, attended the working dinner last night with over 50 heads of state, from China to Nigeria, guests of the summit against the proliferation of nuclear weapons wanted by President Barack Obama and now in its fourth edition.
At the center of the day of meetings remains the terrorist threat following the attacks in Paris and Brussels and the need for coordination to prevent nuclear materials from being used by ISIS to create a "dirty bomb" against the West - a risk that the Casa Bianca considers concrete, even if at the moment not ascertained. The fight against Isis will in fact be the focus of a specific meeting during the summit.
Meanwhile, yesterday in Boston Renzi signed a 150 million dollar agreement with Watson Health, an IBM company that will open its first center in Europe near Milan, in the former Expo area. The operation is part of the Human Technopole project. "We are proud of our great past, but the only way to save it is to create a vision of the future" said Renzi from the IBM center, returning to talk about globalization and technology, and defining them "a great opportunity for everyone to create a future". The former Expo area will thus become the European reference point for the computerization of the healthcare sector.
Also from Boston, yesterday Renzi also launched a political message: “I take this opportunity to wish Hillary Clinton my best wishes – he said -, she is not elegant as prime minister, but I speak as secretary of the Democratic Party.
