Renault, Macron: "It's not a new Dieselgate"

Renault's situation is "in no way comparable" to that of Volkswagen, which has deliberately rigged diesel engines to minimize the level of emissions. French Economy Minister Emmanuel Macron said in Berlin.

"It is not a situation in any way comparable to that of Volkswagen", said the minister when questioned about the searches carried out at Renault by the French services for the repression of fraud, revealed yesterday by the unions.

Macron underlined that he "continues to have faith in the Renault group" and specified that the anti-fraud services have carried out "many checks and searches to verify the reliability and quality of the information transmitted to the consumer".

Renault was "only one of the automakers audited". For the minister "it is important" that the discussions that the house of the lozenge as well as the other groups have in France with the commission in charge of emissions tests and with the ministry itself lead to "all the necessary clarifications".
