Directors, actors, musicians and dancers: pensions at risk

The unification of ENPALS, the social security institution for sports and entertainment workers, according to the unions is putting category social security contributions at risk.

It is chaos for the social security contributions of directors, set designers, musicians, dancers, actors. The unification of ENPALS, the social security institute for sports and entertainment workers, into INPS is making life impossible for thousands of workers and companies, the unions write in a note.

The former ENPALS represented a unicum given the non-continuity of employment relationships of this category of professionals, often labeled under the simple wording: performing artists. In short, there was for the unions too much lightness in this delicate handover and denounces the heavy disservices that have been generated.

Despite the commitment of INCA and SLC CGIL to continuously report all inefficiencies to the Institute, to date the critical issues remain and the INPS is not even able to make a time forecast for the return to normal.

Errors are also recorded in the delivery of payments of the new social shock absorbers for periods of non-work. Furthermore, the union continues, many of these professionals live abroad while it is not even possible to guarantee a pension in the "women's option" because the accounts do not add up. All of this harms entertainment workers, which in Italy enjoy very few rights and protections.
