Regionals, Zingaretti and Maroni towards victory

Lazio and Lombardy, opposite destinies: according to projections in the mid-afternoon in the capital region, the centre-left candidate would be winning against the former governor Storace, while in the Pdl stronghold Maroni wins from the Northern League - Gap on Ambrosoli, however very limited compared to the times of Formigoni.

Regionals, Zingaretti and Maroni towards victory

Opposing destinies for the regions of the two "capitals" of Italy, Lazio and Lombardy. While in Rome and its surroundings, after several experiences with the center-right and a mayor of the capital who is still (for a while) of the PDL, from the projections of 17.37 pm the candidate of the Pd Nicola Zingaretti seems to be ahead, who would surpass the former governor Francesco Storace by about 7 -8 percentage points (37,8%-30%), in the stronghold of Berlusconi and the League the winning combination would seem to be confirmed, even if with very small gaps compared to Formigoni's times: Maroni at 42,2%, Ambrosoli at 37,4 %.

However, both results make us reflect on a center-right that is still alive, in two Regions where scandals and maladministration have not been lacking: from the resignation of Renata Polverini to the fall of Celeste (however elected in this round of the Senate), passing through the murky events of the Lega , which, however, especially in the North, do not seem to have affected much the confidence of the electorate. Or rather, this is what happened in Lombardy, thanks also to the candidacy of a strong man like Maroni and to the alliance (hardly contested by the base) with Berlusconi. Where there has been no alliance, such as in Veneto, the Carroccio has lost much support, while confirming the majority in the centre-right.

In any case, the verdict of the two key regions reflects the impressions made on the eve, when more or less these values emerged during the counting of the House and Senate: in short, the split vote, at least from what appears so far, did not exist and who he hoped (above all Ambrosoli in Milan) alas he will have to come to terms with it. The strongest candidates (Zingaretti and Maroni) have won (or are winning), while the weak ones (Ambrosoli) are rejected or forgotten after bad past experiences (Storace).

Even the regional elections are therefore the mirror of a divided country: a North where the League "loses but wins", a center that tends to be red and a south where the jolt of Berlusconi and the exploits of grillism have had their most marked effects: see Sicily, Campania, and even Puglia, the kingdom of Nichi Vendola.
