Referendum, Renzi: "Change the Italicum by October"

The prime minister criticizes himself in the face of Giorgio Napolitano's jabs ("Too many mistakes have favored the NO campaign") and accelerates the revision of the electoral law to mend with the dem minority in view of the next direction

Referendum, Renzi: "Change the Italicum by October"

The former President of the Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, proudly defends the YES in the next referendum (“If the YES wins, it's a very good thing for Italy”) but he doesn't tell Renzi: “Now Renzi has understood, but this referendum campaign did not get off to a good start, many mistakes were made, favoring the NO campaign with excessive personalisation.

The prime minister responded shortly, first by making self-criticism ("Correct and useful criticisms from those who have wisdom and experience like Napolitano: I will treasure them, but I made a mistake in good faith") and then speeding up the revision of the Italicum, which the front of the NO considers strictly interconnected (the so-called "combined provision") with the constitutional reform, even if the referendum question will be only on the latter.

Renzi has made it clear that he is ready to take the initiative on the Italicum by presenting a new proposal to arrive at a new electoral law by October or in any case before the referendum vote which would have the function of easing tensions with the Pd minority and broadening the front of the YES to the referendum.

It remains to be seen in which direction the changes to the Italicum will go: whether in that of changing the list prize with a majority prize for the winning coalition or in the direction of overcoming the ballot.
