In May 2017, RC prices increased throughout Italy and, according to data from the Facile.it car insurance observatory, in the last twelve months premiums have undergone an average increase of 11,6% (+6,98% in the six-month period), reaching 566 euros.

«For the first time since we conducted this analysis – said Diego Palano, Head of BU Assicurazioni Facile.it – the average prices of motor liability insurance increased in all 20 Italian regions and only 2 provinces experienced slight cost decreases. Consumers, however, today have learned to better orient themselves among the proposals available on the market and this allows them to save money, regardless of their driver profile».

The portal, the leader in Italy for comparing car and motorcycle insurance, elaborated its analysis on a sample of around one million estimates made in the last twelve months; analyzing the data it emerges how the increase recorded during the year varies significantly along the boot; at the top of the ranking we find Trentino Alto Adige (+18,34%, average premium 421,24 euros), Molise (+17,85%, 538,58 euros) and Valle d'Aosta (+15,92%, 359,03. 8,97 euros) while the smallest increases concerned Veneto (+464,89%, 7,75 euros), Basilicata (+492,18%, 5,44 euros) and Puglia (671,25%, XNUMX, XNUMX euros).

In absolute values, the motorists who paid the most in May 2017 were Campania, who spent an average of 933,84 euros to insure their vehicle, and Calabrians, with 694,97 euros. The luckiest, however, are once again the Aosta Valley, who with an average expense of 359,03 euros, continue to be the Italian motorists for whom the motor liability premium is lower.

The most expensive and the cheapest provinces: Caserta black jersey

Looking at the ranking at the provincial level, the area where motor liability costs the most is Caserta, (1.014,26 euros the average price in May 2017), a value almost 80% higher than the national one; the lowest prices are instead found in Aosta (359,03 euros).

In terms of percentage increase over the twelve months, the provinces that recorded the highest increases were Imperia (+23,19%) and Benevento (+23,03%) while at the bottom of the ranking we find the only two areas companies that saw a reduction in the cost of motor liability: Enna (-2,47%) and Barletta-Andria-Trani (-5,82%).

The trend in the half-year and the ancillary guarantees

Reducing the observation period to the last six months, it can be seen that the average increase in motor liability in Italy is more contained, +6,98%. In the first half, the regions that recorded the greatest variations were Molise (+12,54%), Calabria (+12,14%) and Basilicata (+10,96%); the minor increases, on the other hand, concerned motorists in Valle d'Aosta (+4,71%), Sardinia (+4,13%) and Veneto (+2,59%).

Still in the semester, at the provincial level, the situation did not change significantly, with Benevento leading the ranking of price increases (+21,06%), followed by Vibo Valentia (+18,13%) and Imperia (+17,88%) .

Information relating to ancillary guarantees also emerges from the Facile.it Observatory; the most requested in Italy is once again roadside assistance (included in 42,34% of estimates), an element closely linked to the age of the vehicles on the road which, according to data, is 9,68 years.
