Prysmian has been awarded a 13 million contract for the supply and installation of submarine cables for the Rentel wind farm, a consortium of operators who have come together to carry out the project off the coast of Belgium, approximately 34 km from the port of Zeebrugge and 40 from Ostend. Once completed, the park will be the fifth built in the North Sea by Belgium, a leading country in the offshore wind energy sector.
The company will be responsible for the design, manufacture and supply of 33 kV submarine cable systems of various sections, including related accessories, and for sea splicing and termination operations and testing services. The cables will be manufactured in the Drammen plant (Norway), delivery is scheduled for summer 2017, while installation works will be completed in spring 2018.
