Prysmian: 300 million contract with the French electricity grid

Prysmian will be responsible for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of two high voltage cable systems for each of the three farms, ensuring the submarine and land connections of Fecamp, Calvados and St Nazaire to the electricity grid French.

Prysmian has signed a contract worth more than 300 million euros with the Reseau de Transport d'Electricité (RTE). The agreement provides for the construction of submarine cable systems for the connections of three offshore wind farms, Fecamp, Calvados and Saint Nazaire, with the French electricity grid.

These are the first connections created by RTE in France in order to transmit renewable energy produced by off-shore wind farms to thousands of businesses and homes.

Prysmian will be responsible for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of two high voltage cable systems for each of the three farms, ensuring the submarine and land connections of Fecamp, Calvados and St Nazaire to the electricity grid French.

The links, which consist of 220 kV high voltage alternating current (Hvac) three-core cables with Xlpe insulation, will connect the farms developed by Eolien Maritime France (Emf). The submarine cables will be built in the group's centers of excellence in Arco Felice, Italy, and Pikkala, Finland. The cables for the terrestrial sections will be made by Gron, France. Delivery is expected between 2019 and 2022. For the marine installation, Prysmian will use its Cable Enterprise, a DP2 vessel for cable laying activities.

On Piazza Affari, investors celebrate the news by purchasing the stock which is currently gaining 2% at 24,46 euros.
