'Comics Promotion 2021' is launching a tender of 644.000 euros for initiatives aimed at: creating a synergy between programming, capable of strengthening identity and visibility at national and international level; promote system strategies that put the most significant realities operating in the field of comics in Italy online; support actions and projects of national and international value for the increase, enhancement and development of comics.
The call is open to museums and public institutes, also managed by private non-profit entities, as well as to private entities and organizations, cultural institutions, foundations and non-profit associations which promote comics and the culture of Italian and international comics, in Italy and abroad, through events, shows, exhibitions and festivals of significant cultural importance.
The funding available for the realization of each proposal is fixed within the maximum amount of 80% of the eligible costs and in any case within the maximum limit of 70.000 euros. The proposing subjects who are beneficiaries of the loan, both individually and in partnership, will have to ensure coverage of the remaining quota through a contribution of 20% of the total amount of the proposal. The evaluation of the proposals will be carried out by a Commission made up of a representative of the DGCC and four experts, chosen among university professors, professors of the Institutions of Higher Artistic Education and Academies and highly qualified experts or critics in the field of comics.
“Comic strips are a very interesting language of contemporary Italian cultural production – affirms the Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini – both for the intense artistic vivacity of the sector and for its undoubtedly being an Italian excellence appreciated all over the world. After having been little considered by the institutions for too long, in recent years the Ministry of Culture has worked hard to enhance the art of comics, animation and illustration starting with the Comics in Museums project, and the new call is a further confirmation of the particular attention that is paid to this language”.
"We are very curious to evaluate the proposals that will arrive - adds the General Director of Contemporary Creativity Onofrio Cutaia - 'Promozione Fumetto 2021' fits into the framework of the institutional actions of our General Management, aimed at promoting the manifestations of contemporary creativity, also through the support to cultural and creative enterprises. And comics are a creative expression of the highest level, which uses complex decoding tools and languages that are often little considered by the national cultural debate. It is essential that the institutions support this art, recognizing the high value of this form of expression.
