Agcom's first yes to the spin off of the network proposed by Telecom Italia. On the basis of discussions with the group chaired by Franco Bernabè and in light of the European rules, the Authority deemed the project "serious and reliable" and allowed for the next phase of examination to be reached which will address the merits of the complex issues after las pusa summer. This new phase will be launched in September and will involve comparing Agcom with all the other telephone operators on the access markets.
Calendar in hand, the final verdict of Agcom chaired by Angelo Cardani should arrive within the year. The crucial point of the whole operation is to understand whether, on the basis of the commitments undertaken by Telecom on the unbundling of the network, Agcom will believe or not that the regulatory constraints on Bernabè's group can be relaxed.
