May XNUMXst, Bentivogli (Fim Cisl): more participation to give dignity to work

Two days before the most important national holiday for workers, the Fim Cisl together with Next and NCO - in Aversa (Caserta) wanted to reward 11 companies that stood out for their responsibility, participation and legality with an "ethical Cash Mob ” , Voting with my wallet, as the economist Leonardo Becchetti defined it.

For the General Secretary of the Fim Cisl Marco Bentivogli this initiative is the innovative prologue of May 1st, in a land that is a symbol, in spite of himself, of the Camorra and of the often solitary struggle waged against it by a part of civil society that does not surrenders to fear and indifference. However, this is also the land of Don Peppe Diana - continues Bentivogli - the priest assassinated by the Camorra for his civil commitment, especially for young people, in Casal di Principe, which is just about ten kilometers from Aversa. We need to start talking again and reward the good examples of Italy's best, giving value and meaning to good news in a country where prophets of doom often have media success. Those who only tell about misfortunes obscure the good part of our country, the honest, industrious part that engages socially and civilly, and which instead must be valorised by also using opportunities of great visibility and great
historical and political significance as May 1".

It is also up to the union to know how to create the conditions for a civil economy, based on social, financial and environmental sustainability – says Bentivogli – a challenge that can be won even in areas where business and work have to face a reality wounded by organized crime.

During the initiative, the first Next responsible critical purchase card was handed over to the Fim Cisl General Secretary Marco Bentivogli by Giovan Battista Costa, President of NeXT. It's a tool that elevates the concept of voting with your wallet, explains Costa - allowing each of us to be a consumer for every gesture of daily purchase”. “For our union of metalworkers – underlines Bentivogli – voting with the wallet is a tool of great importance because it contains two decisive ingredients for union action. The first is awareness and the second is participation. It is a very strong way to direct consumption towards a world made of sustainability, in a moment in which the consciences of industrial work are subjected to attempts of seizure by all populisms. A great opportunity to once again represent Italy at its best”.
