Pistelli: goodbye politics, go to ENI

After 19 years in the Italian and European Parliament, Deputy Foreign Minister Lapo Pistelli resigns from his posts today. From 1 July he will be senior vice president of Eni: “I will be in charge of international business and promote relations with stakeholders in Africa and the Middle East. At 51 you can change your life”

The letter of resignation is ready and will be presented today. Lapo Pistelli, deputy minister for foreign affairs, leaves his post as a Pd parliamentarian and a member of the government to join ENI called by CEO Claudio Descalzi. His task will be to promote international business and relations with stakeholders in Africa and the Middle East. La Stampa writes it today.

“You can change your life at 51,” said Pistelli. "Eni is the most global company that Italy has, it is present in 80 countries and is a formidable center of innovation". It is also a bit of our bridge, even in international relations, towards strategic countries. Eni has been present in Africa since the 50s and is undoubtedly the major leader on the continent.

Lapo Pistelli leaves Parliament after Enrico Letta and after the frictions with Prime Minister Renzi, born of the succession to the Farnesina following the departure of Federica Mogherini. His is a long curriculum, started from the DC at the end of the 80s and spent 19 years in Parliament (Italian and European), the position of foreign affairs officer of the Democratic Party, university assignments abroad and at Stanford.
