Pirelli invests 120 million in Brazil by 2021

The group led by Marco Tronchetti Provera reorganizes the production structure in the South American country, accelerating the focus on High Value products

Pirelli invests 120 million in Brazil by 2021

Pirelli strengthens its position in Brazil, announcing a 120 million euro investment plan in the South American country for the three-year period 2019-2021. The objective, explains the company in a note, is “the modernization and reconversion of the production plants from Standard ad High Value and the improvement of the mix and quality of the Campinas (San Paolo) and Feira de Santana (Bahia) factories”. These new resources add up to the 320 million euros already invested in Brazil in the period 2013-2018.

In particular, the production reorganization provides for the expansion of the Campinas factory, currently active only in the production of Car tires, through the transfer of the production of Motorcycle tires from the Gravatai plant (Rio Grande do Sul), which will be completed by mid-2021 .

This reorganization will allow for the creation of an industrial pole serving the Latin American markets, which will be dedicated to the production of Car, Motorcycle and Motorsport tyres, with a growing focus on High Value. In this way, production processes and logistic flows will be optimised, also thanks to the location of the Campinas plant, closer to the production plants of the car and motorcycle manufacturers, and whose expansion will allow the hiring of around 300 people by 2022.

The resources related to the reorganization derive mainly from the signing of the tax agreement on the Patent Box which took place in October 2018.
