Photography: "Tales of the Pandemic" by Photolux

The first Photolux exhibition is the collective The beginning of the future, curated by Giulia Ticozzi and Arcipelago-19, with an audiovisual installation by Cesura, which traces the different phases of the pandemic, as they have been and are experienced in Italy, through the stories of photographers ., whose testimony proved to be fundamental for a broader vision of the moment, always different thanks to the experience, vocation, language and place of belonging of each author.

Some photographers have tackled stories of illness, of care, of mourning, collecting the suggestions of empty cities, of mountain valleys hit hard by the virus, of the growing tensions within society but also of solidarity and mutual aid.

Others recounted the stories of people forced into homes. Many have rediscovered the faces of their family members, neighbors and those who, although hardly ever at the center of the news, have been able to bring to light fundamental aspects of the human being, such as the body, interpersonal relationships, the intimate relationship with himself.

The second exhibition, entitled Tales of the Pandemic, curated by Enrico Stefanelli and Chiara Ruberti, presents a selection of materials acquired this year in the Covid-19 fund and relating to the health emergency in the Lucca area, thanks to images and videos by authors, not necessarily professionals, who live and work in Lucca and its province.

In July Photolux will be present at the Meetings of Arles (France) with the exhibition of Alberto Giuliani, NASA Hi-SEAS hosted by the Manuel Rivera-Ortiz Foundation and included in the official program of the review (4 July – 26 September 2021). A now consolidated collaboration, which allows Photolux to bring the work of Italian authors to one of the most prestigious places of photography at an international level.

Photolux 2021 it will then continue in September with the exhibition of the winners of the World Press Photo 2021 and two other exhibitions: Bitter Leaves, the reportage by Rocco Rorandelli (1973), member of the TerraProject collective, carried out between India, China, Indonesia, the United States, Italy and many other countries, to report the impact of the tobacco industry on people's health, l economy and the environment, e Foul and Awesome Display, a production of European Photography (Reggio Emilia) curated by Francesco Colombelli, which offers a selection of photographic books that analyzes how the development of combat weapons has gone hand in hand with that of the most modern technologies.
