Oil, more safety guarantees for workers, the environment, citizens on off shore activities in Italy. This is the purpose of the new network implemented by the Directorate General for Security UNMIG (DGS UNMIG) of the Ministry of Development. First of all, the aim is to acquire data in real time for monitoring and control purposes, but also to enhance and cross-reference scientific skills and acquisitions, thus improving the dialogue with the bodies (above all Regions and Municipalities but not only) who then have to take the plant decisions.
The set of new measures adopted will be presented on 15 December in Milan, at the Guido Martinotti Auditorium of the Bicocca University. The main results of the collaboration implemented with important research institutions, universities and state bodies for the increase of offshore safety will be presented. In particular, the prototype of an innovative system of indicators for upstream safety will be presented, made possible by the collaborative commitment, unique of its kind in Italy, of a network strongly desired by the Management led by Franco Terlizzese. The system was created to monitor, through simple numerical indices, the safety of the upstream in the Italian offshore and to improve awareness and knowledge of the quality of the work performed also in the territories.
The Presidents of INGV Carlo Doglioni, of RSE Stefano Besseghini, of AMRA Piero Salatino and the Director of the Department of Applied Science of the Turin Polytechnic Prof. Paolo Fino will intervene to present results and perspectives of Italian research for the maximum safety of upstream activities, in the the scope of the agreements entered into with the DGS UNMIG.
In this delicate phase of transition towards a "low carbon" economy, we also want to discuss the best tools to ensure maximum respect for the environment and citizens; to this end, as part of the conference, a round table is scheduled during which representatives of environmental associations (Greenpeace, Legambiente and WWF), local administrations (Basilicata and Emilia Romagna) and companies in the sector (Edison and Eni) will discuss expectations and perceptions of the conditions for development
