Gasoline, hot mid-August: tomorrow excise duties will increase by +0,51 cents

"New and 'unforeseen' fuel bills from tomorrow". This was noted by Quotidiano Energia, which cites a provision of August 9 by the Customs Agency in which it is announced that from August 11 and until December 31, 2012 "the rates of excise duty on petrol will rise by 4,20 euro/`000 liters from 724,20 to 728,40 euros/`000 liters and those on diesel of the same amount from 613,20 to 617,40 euros/`000 litres. Increases that translate into +0,42 cents per liter and, including the 21% VAT, around 0,51 cents per litre".

The increase will generate more revenue for the state coffers of 65 million euros, to make the bonus for fuel managers structural and to deal with the facilitated collection of taxes in the earthquake-hit areas of Abruzzo.

Since the beginning of 2011, excise duties on petrol have increased by 16,44 cents, while those on diesel by 19,44 cents, to which must be added the multiplier effect of VAT.

The latest increase, of 2,42 cents including VAT on both products in favor of the earthquake in Emilia, dates back to last June, when however it did not affect consumer prices, also thanks to the drop in international prices.
