INPS minimum pension: amount and integration in 2017

Those who receive a pension below the minimum threshold can obtain an increase in the monthly allowance up to 501,89 euros per month, but only if they meet certain requirements

INPS minimum pension: amount and integration in 2017

The amount of the INPS minimum pension for 2017 is provisionally set at €501,89 for 13 months, equal to €6.524,57 per year. Anyone who receives a pension below this threshold (considered the "minimum subsistence") can obtain the so-called "integration to the minimum treatment", ie an increase in the monthly allowance up to 501,89 euros. But not all pensions below the INPS minimum can benefit from this benefit: in some cases the integration is excluded, in others only partial. It depends on the total income of the pensioner and his family situation. Let's see how it works.

MINIMUM PENSION: INTEGRATION FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT MARRIED

– Those who are not married, or are legally separated or divorced, have the right to complete integration if their personal income (which includes all income) does not exceed 6.525 euros per year.

– If your personal income is between 6.525 and 13.050 euros a year, the integration is partial. To calculate it, it is necessary to subtract personal income from the maximum threshold and divide the result by the number of monthly salaries (13). For example, if the personal income is 10.000 euros per year, the operation is as follows: (13.050 – 10.000) / 13 = 235. The result is the amount of the supplement which is added to the pension.

– Lastly, no integration if personal income exceeds 13.050 euros a year.

MINIMUM PENSION: THE INTEGRATION FOR THOSE WHO ARE MARRIED

– Those who are married obtain complete integration if their personal income added to that of their spouse does not exceed 13.050 euros per year.

– If the income of the couple is between 13.050 and 26.099 euros, the integration is partial. To calculate it, two values must be compared: on the one hand, the difference between the maximum limit for personal income (13.050 euros) and the actual personal income of the pensioner; on the other, the difference between the maximum limit for the couple's income (26.099 euros) and the effective income of the couple. The lowest amount is the one that is paid out.

– Integration, on the other hand, is not granted if the couple's cumulative income is higher than 26.099 euros a year.

Furthermore, married people must bear in mind that in order to be entitled to integration (total or partial), both the personal and the couple's income limit must be respected. In other words, if the couple's income does not exceed 26.099 euros but the personal income exceeds 13.050 euros, the pensioner is excluded from any integration.

ATTENTION TO THE RETIREMENT YEAR

All these rules are valid for those who retired from 1995 onwards. For treatments started before 1994, on the other hand, only the restriction relating to personal income applies and not the one on the couple's income. Finally, for those who retired from work in 1994, both personal and couple limits apply, but the latter with a slightly higher ceiling, equal to five times the INPS minimum (32.623 euros instead of 26.099).

INCOME THAT DON'T COUNT

The income to be taken into account for the purposes of the right to integration is that subject to Irpef. Are excluded:

– the income of the dwelling house;

– severance indemnities (Tfr), including any advances;

– the amount of the pension to be supplemented;

– income exempt from personal income tax (war pensions, Inail annuities, pensions for disabled civilians);

– back fees subject to separate taxation.

MINIMUM PENSION: NO INTEGRATION WITH THE CONTRIBUTION METHOD

The minimum supplement is not envisaged for pensions calculated entirely with the contributory method. This category includes, among others, the benefits of workers who started paying contributions after 1996 January XNUMX.
