Opificio Golinelli: handwriting in the digital age

The new initiative of the Golinelli Foundation dedicated to publishing for children and adolescents started yesterday, Monday 3 April, and will last until Saturday. The event, which is called "Children's book fair and boom - Growing in books", is held at the Opificio Golinelli in Bologna in collaboration with Griffo, the great festival of letters: workshops, meetings, exhibitions dedicated to writing are planned and publishing for children and adolescents. Here is the complete program:

Tuesday 4 and 11 April | 14.15>17.45 | teacher training course

WE WRITE IN ITALIC IN THE DIGITAL ERA

The course promotes a reflection on teaching practices to improve the teaching and learning of handwriting. Following a gradual approach that takes into account the different writing movements required by the execution of the shapes of the single letters and their concatenation in the cursive, one becomes acquainted with a "new" model of manual writing, italic. The course is an opportunity to rediscover, through practical exercises, handwriting and the role it plays in the development of fine motor skills, visual-motor memory, and expressive skills in children.

In collaboration with the Francesco Griffo Association of Bologna and the SMED Cultural Association Handwriting in the Digital Era

FOR WHOM: Kindergarten and primary school teachers

HANDWRITING IN THE DIGITAL AGE

Is it true that children are losing the ability to write by hand, especially cursive? Is it possible to improve and enhance its teaching at school? What is the importance of handwriting today? The meeting, conducted by Massimo Gonzato, president of the SMED association, offers participants writing tests in the Italic style and illustrates the shapes of the letters that more than 500 years ago inspired the first typographic cursive (now better known as italic) made famous all over the world by Aldo Manuzio and engraved by the Bolognese Francesco Griffo.
