Open Fiber brings ultra-fast fiber to the Ligurian Riviera

Open Fiber has signed a contract with the Municipality of Savona which provides for the laying of new infrastructure, in FTTH (Fiber To The Home) mode, which will enable web connection speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second in the city.

The company led by Elisabetta Ripa will invest almost 9 million euros in the Ligurian city in order to connect 25 properties to ultra-broadband via a new infrastructure of approximately 110 km.

According to the provisions of the contract, Open Fiber, where possible, will make use of the cable ducts and already existing underground or aerial network infrastructures.

“The new FTTH network that we will build here in Savona – underlines the Liguria and Southern Piedmont regional manager, Giovanni Romano Poggi – represents a strategic, cutting-edge and “future proof” asset, because it is capable of returning low latency and greater reliability. The goal is to provide citizens with an infrastructure that enables highly innovative services - such as, for example, smart working, telemedicine, online HD streaming, home automation - which are increasingly essential for the growth of the economic fabric local. After Genoa and La Spezia, our project is still expanding: we are proud of the interest this Administration has shown towards our project, and of the operational support that has allowed us to define the details of the agreement in a short time".
